ODG designs 100% sustainable activations for adidas – “Run for the Oceans”

With a continuous commitment to always strive to expand the limits of human possibilities and to create a more sustainable world, adidas’ mission is to be the best, most credible, inclusive sustainable sport brand in the world.

Run For The Oceans is by far one of the main sustainability campaigns of the year for adidas globally. On this occasion, ODG was chosen to design elevated and engaging in-store activations across multiple doors and flagship stores in Dubai, Doha, Kuwait, Jeddah, Riyadh, as well as across Jordan, Morocco and Egypt.

The design inspiration came from the combination of 3 elements: Ocean, Sustainability and Movement. Each of them is a fundamental element of the storytelling of this activation in line with adidas’ end goal.

The ocean water is constantly moving not only in the form of waves and tides. Ocean currents flow like vast rivers, sweeping along predictable paths. Some ocean currents flow at the surface; others flow deep within water.

The sustainability movement includes everyone who is vocal about their concern for the environment and the need for its protection. It is based on advocacy and work towards protecting the environment from destruction and pollution.

Running is a means of movement. Whether it is for a fitness goal, for a positive state of mind or for a future where there is no plastic waste.

The combination of these elements allowed the design team to create an impactful experiential activation that calls for awareness and action.

The end result was a success for both adidas and ODG teams, who were able to build a 100% sustainable activation and displays by using recyclable materials such as eco-friendly canvas fabrics, wood and OSB boards, water based (chemical free) paints and LED lighting.

The activations are visible at the Dubai Mall Halo Store, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Hills Mall, Mirdif City Center and the newly opened Place Vendome in Doha, as well as across multiple doors in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Morocco and Egypt.
